The only blog entry I wrote about that trip <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/en\/2012\/07\/silent-disco-and-other-nightlife-highlights-in-seoul\/\" title=\"Silent disco and other nightlife highlights in Seoul\">was this<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Old Tea Shop in Insadong (address 2f 2-2 Kwan Hun-dong, Chong Ro-gu, close to Atelier Seoul) &#8211; an impressive cafe with birds flying around, friendly staff, nice tea and desserts, and cozy atmosphere. I was taken there by a couchsurfer, who thought I absolutely have to see this. Closes at 11 pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\">\n\t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;margin-bottom: 15px;\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"560\" height=\"430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/1wPa6Djdt-8?modestbranding=1&rel=0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Artist commune in Mullae. This is an industrial neighborhood that is rapidly being gentrified. Owners of small workshops are not willing to move out, but business is slow. To maintain the neighborhood as it is, a group artists settled there on now abandoned top floors of these metal workshops. Now it became a bustling arts commune with resident international artists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_3456\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/seoul06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3456\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3456\" src=\"http:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/seoul06-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Mullae\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/seoul06-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/seoul06.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3456\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mullae &#8211; click on the images to enlarge them<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Seoul Forest, where you can see deer and other creatures, but most importantly &#8211; tropical butterflies. I visited a similar butterfly garden in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/en\/2013\/05\/luxembourgs-treasures-the-mullerthal-trail\/\" title=\"Luxembourg&#8217;s treasures I: The Mullerthal Trail\">Luxembourg<\/a>, but this is larger and more &#8216;flowery&#8217;. The &#8216;forest&#8217;s&#8217; leaflet says that it is comparable to NY Central Park and London Hyde Park, and is one of the locals&#8217; favorite urban hideaways. There is also a playground accessible for people with disabilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_3446\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/seoul01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3446\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3446\" src=\"http:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/seoul01-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Seoul Forest\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/seoul01-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.daivarepeckaite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/seoul01.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3446\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Seoul Forest<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Changgyeong Palace close to where I was staying (Line 4, Hyehwa station) &#8211; first built in 15 c, repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt in 1877, then turned into a zoo and finally restored as a museum again. I liked not because it was architecturally impressive, but that it felt really like a space that people use. Wannabe bureaucrats in the middle ages used to take their exams there.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lotte World. You know I&#8217;m not a fan of Disneyland-type places. But this one is impressive.
